Soulful rockers GODZILLIONAIRE release stirring new video “Unsustainable”; new album “Diminishing Returns” out now on Ripple Music

Dark and soulful rockers GODZILLIONAIRE (with Paw frontman Mark Hennessy) have just released a powerful and heart-rending music video for the song “Unsustainable”, taken from their new album “Diminishing Returns” on Ripple Music.

Directed by Adam AJ Mason (Alice in Chains, System of a Down, Korn, Palms, Within Temptation, Cradle of Filth) and starring a gripping performance from Paul Sloan and Viktoriya Dov, “Unsustainable” shows another facet of Godzillionaire through a lush and melancholic pop/trip-hop hybrid that features seamless guest vocals from Lizz Weiler, and contributions from Crying Vessel’s Slade Templeton (production/synths) and Basil Oberli (electronic drums).

The band comments: “It began as most Godzillionaire songs do, a practice jam session. We record all of our practices specifically for this reason. What came from an improvised bass line turned into a collaboration with Slade and Basil of Crying Vessel on the album. Enter Adam Mason, who directed the video for “Absolute Zero” years ago. A fan and now dear friend of the band, Adam once again reached out with his amazing cinematic interpretation of our music. He did not disappoint. We shed many a tear over this video for the last 10 or so months since he sent it over to us. We couldn’t be more pleased to share it with our fans today. Thank you for riding Godzillionaire. Please enjoy your in-flight movie.

Deemed “a spectacular release” by Ghost Cult Magazine and “album of the year contender” by Outlaws of the Sun, Godzillionaire‘s new album “Diminishing Returns” invites us to embrace the Kansas foursome’s vibrant and adventurous brand of heavy rock through eight superbly magnetic songs. From the dark and atmosphere-driven rock journey of “Spin Up Spin Down”, the murky grunge aura of “Shadow of a Mountain” to the hard-hitting charge of “3rd Street Shuffle” and the triumphant heavy psychedelia of “Boogie Johnson” and “Common Board, Magic Nail”, the fabulous foursome is never short of an undeniable rifftastic grandeur crowned by spectacular grooves and the unique soulful vocals from Mark Hennessy (also known for fronting 90s grunge legends Paw).

Fronted by legendary singer, poet, and artist Mark Hennessy from grunge band Paw, Godzillionaire is known for creating focused music equal in ferocity and lovelorn sensitivity and bringing raging, emotionally intense live performances. Hennessy is joined by Ben White (guitar), Michael Dye (bass), and Cody Romaine (drums) in creating music with focus and intention, rooted in human experience.

Godzillionaire first received worldwide attention with the inclusion of their songs “Absolute Zero” and “Excommunication” in the film “They Come Knocking” (part of Hulu’s “Into the Dark” series) upon request of video director and long-time supporter Adam Mason (Alice in Chains, Cradle Of Filth). Released in April 2020, their debut album “Negative Balance” was ranked #14th in New Noise Magazine’s Albums of the Year staff poll and #50th in their readers’ poll. It was also ranked #13 in Guitar Part magazine’s staff picks for Best Albums of 2020, and was featured in John Gist’s Doom Charts 2020 Favorites. Leanne Ridgeway of Riff Relevant described it as “an hour of enchantingly heavy and light moments blended into thoroughly encompassing storytelling”.

Their sophomore album “Diminishing Returns” on Ripple Music sees the band exploring new, intriguing, yet familiar sonic territory, perhaps the most eclectic release of their career.
