Las Robertas released their debut full-length album “Cry Out Loud” in 2010 and started gaining immediate popularity through well-recognized blogs (Hipster Runoff, Gorilla vs. Bear, AlteredZones, The Dumbing of America). The trio’s trippy noise-pop garage-rock took the international music scene by storm, and the band quickly became a darling on the indie festival circuit in Europe as well as the Americas. In its time as a band, Las Robertas has played festivals such as SXSW, Rock al Parque, All My Friends, and Levitation. In 2011, Las Robertas became the first Costa Rican group to play Mexico’s Nrmal Festival and Barcelona’s Primavera Sound, the latter being considered one of the most prestigious in the world.
The group, which has toured both Europe & America and shared stages with bands like Echo & the Bunnymen, Pearl Jam, Warpaint, Flaming Lips, Primal Scream and more, considers itself influenced by punk music with a hard inspiration of soul and surf. Their principal influences include the C86-era bands The Vaselines, Black Tambourine, The Field Mice, and Beat Happening, as well as Sonic Youth, The Velvet Underground, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Wipers, Fugazi, early My Bloody Valentine, and The Amps, among others. |
