SAPIENS emerged from LOS DISIDENTES DEL SUCIO MOTEL leader Nicolas Foucaud’s mind in 2017.  Great lover of acoustic rock that he is, influenced by Led Zeppelin, Alice In Chains and Foo Fighters, Nicolas decided to set himself the personal goal of producing and releasing a 100% acoustic album featuring 10 of his favorite rock and metal singers.

Among these singers, some were already friends, others acquaintances met on the road, but all sharing a common trait: an instantly recognizable vocal identity. For Nico, the project’s true challenge was to write songs specifically for each singer, preserving their identities while providing a new playground for them to explore.

Enlisting the help of his friend Thibault Fassler, they duo exchanged ideas and arrangements, composing the album in just over 4 months, with each singer given free rein regarding lyrics and melodies.

The result was magic, growing richer and deeper with the addition of pianist and producer/engineer Patrick Wetterer to help build the album at Dub and Sound Studio during the next year.  No fewer than 35 musicians participated in its creation, including the lead singers of LOFOFORA, MARS RED SKY, HANGMAN’S CHAIR, BLACK BOMB Ä, BUKOWSKI, PSYKUP, BABYLON PRESSION, ROBOT ORCHESTRA, FOREST POOKY and LDDSM.

SAPIENS is not a band, but a unique and unifying project in which both the human and the artistic side of musical creation was put to the test.  This undertaking, authentic and collective, is now ready to be shared with as many music fans as possible.
